Hello! I am Emily Martini. Over the last two years I have been thrust into the world of theatre, and I am more than happy I was. I have done multiple shows with difference production companies over this period of time. I have done From Broadway To You: A Musical Revue, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, The Mousetrap, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Les Miserables with Churchill High School. In these shows I have played the roles of Maria Reynolds/Angelica Schuyler, Mrs.Lovett, Mrs.Boyle, Puck/Robin Goodfellow, and Madame Thenardier respectively. I have also done Big: The musical with Rose Children’s theatre and Wouldn’t It Be Loverly? A Revue of The Fifties, which was also last summer’s MTTA with The Shedd.
After doing this many shows in such a short time, I learned how important performing truly is to me. Not only have I grown more confident, assertive, and determined through theatre, but I have also learned how to better connect with others. As an artist, I strive mostly for connection between myself and the audience, my fellow cast members, and anybody else involved in the show in any way. Theatre, and any other kind of art for that matter is so special, because each individual show can only ever happen once. Before I go on stage for the first time every night, I remind myself that this particular show is special, because it will be the only time I will perform that particular play for that particular audience. It is a fleeting moment of connection with everybody in the building that is so beautiful, and can never, ever be replaced.

2 months after moving across the country, 4 days after starting high school, Emily tried out for the first production of the school year. She not only brought the house down by rapping Guns and Ships at speed, she got her first real part. Even more amazing, when one of the leads was taken ill suddenly, with 2 minutes notice, Em stepped in and gave a seamless performance. Something big started that day.

In her very first high school year, Em earned the roll of Mrs. Lovett. What she did at 14 stunned her castmates, directors and the audience.
